San Bernardino City Unified School District operates full-day and part-day state preschools at dozens of locations convenient for families. Hours and ages vary by location based on state program requirements.
Full-Day State Preschool Program
The full-day program for children ages 3-5 provides a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, creative, linguistic, and cognitive development of each child. Eligibility is based on verified family income, size, and need. (Monthly family fee may be applicable)
Full-Day State and Federal Infant/Toddler Program
The Infant/Toddler program for children birth-3 years old provides full-day care at five locations throughout San Bernardino.
Part-Day State Preschool Program
The part-day program is for children 3-5 years of age. Our program provides a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, creative, linguistic, and cognitive development of each child. This free program is available to those families whose income does not exceed the State guidelines.
Quality Start San Bernardino:
We are excited to announce that the Child Development Program is participating in Quality Start San Bernardino County (QSSB), a Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS) initiative! QSSB is designed to provide quality improvement support, professional development opportunities, and educational tools to increase quality in early learning experiences in San Bernardino.
Positive Behavior Intervention and Support:
The Child Development Program implements Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). We incorporate and teach behavioral expectations in our daily lesson. We support and respond to children’s behavior in a positive manner and help children engage in appropriate behavior rather than inappropriate behaviors. The Child Development Program focuses on three easy to remember behavioral expectations: Be Safe, Be Responsible and Be Respectful
